A...Hey SBW,

I am not sure on the cost, to be honest. As far as I know, this was never part of a normal offering at the Scrap Yard. It was supposedly sold at Blade 2007 only, and I did not make it. It was a gift also, so I really don't know the price.

I do know that the only way to get them now is to look at the aftermarket (like the exchange at Blade Forums). They are going for more than originally offer for I am sure.BrianAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03216739783935281156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3755680918302916290.post-86060393314420600812007-12-11T13:57:00.000-08:002007-12-11T13:57:00.000-08:00That knife looks a lot like a fallkniven F1, how d...That knife looks a lot like a fallkniven F1, how does it compare in price?
SBWThe Suburban Bushwackerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09372690405902840131noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3755680918302916290.post-30865301919711504352007-12-05T17:02:00.000-08:002007-12-05T17:02:00.000-08:00Yes...the choil. I believe they started on custom ...Yes...the choil. I believe they started on custom knives as a way to aid in fully sharpening the blade. Whether you use a belt sander like I do, or some other method, it does do a great job of giving you full access to the blade when sharpening.

I personally feel every knife should at least have a very small one. For example, if you look at the Busse Game Warden, the choil is way too small to put a finger in, but is great for sharpening.

If the choil is large enough to put your finger in. It drastically changes the feel of the knife. Like "choking up" on it.

There are of course lots of preferences. Some would prefer no choil on small knives, but want them on bigger ones, and vice versa.

I typically prefer micarta handles, like the Swamp Rat Ratmandu, and also really like the choil on that knife too.BrianAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03216739783935281156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3755680918302916290.post-34060130674853497482007-12-05T04:26:00.000-08:002007-12-05T04:26:00.000-08:00That's a nice looking knife - although I've never ...That's a nice looking knife - although I've never understood the utility of the area at the base and at the bottom of the blade, it seems like wasted area that could be another half inch of sharp edge? Is it to rest a finger in?

Anyway, cheers, MungoMungohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15819489744098705713noreply@blogger.com
